Palmar de Troya is a Spanish village and municipality in the province of Seville , about 30 km south of Seville . Palmar de Troya 2340 inhabitants (as of 2019).

The population grew from around 200 to 2000 between 1936 and 1965, as the Torre del Aguilar reservoir was built near it. Today the population lives mainly from agriculture, many residents migrate to other regions during the harvest season, for example to the province of Huelva for the strawberry harvest .

Palmar de Troya is the seat of the Palmarian Catholic Church of Clemente Domínguez y Gómez (" Pope Gregory XVII.") , Who died in 2005, and his successors. The community cathedral is protected by a wall that prevents closer inspection.

Palmar de Troya has been an independent municipality since October 2, 2018, the place previously belonged to Utrera .
