Pamela Sargent
Pamela Sargent (born March 20, 1948 in Ithaca (City, New York) ) is an American feminist , science fiction writer and editor.
life and work
Pamela Sargent was born in Ithaca and grew up an atheist .

She attended the State University of New York at Binghamton, which she completed with a master's degree in philosophy. She currently lives in Albany, New York.
She wrote a series of books on terraforming on Venus that has been compared to Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy, but Sargent published her books beforehand. In her work she also deals with alternative world stories and many other topics in science fiction literature.
As an editor, she primarily published anthologies by women to cement the role of female authors in the history of science fiction, including Judith Merril , Marion Zimmer Bradley , Kate Wilhelm, and Ursula K. Le Guin .
Awards
- 1993: Nebula Award and Locus Award for the short story Danny Flies to Mars
- 2000: Service to SFWA Award as editor of Nebula Anthologies together with George Zebrowski
- 2012: Pilgrim Award for Lifetime Achievement
