Paolo Enrico Massimo Lancellotti
Principe (Prince) Paolo Enrico Massimo Lancellotti, Principe di Prossedi (born June 9, 1911 at Merode Castle , Merode , Germany ; † October 18, 2004 in Rome ) was an Italian diplomat . He was general governor of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

Paolo Enrico was the first of four children from the marriage of Luigi Massimo Lancellotti (1881–1968), Prince of Prossedi , with Marie-Nathalie de Merode (1884–1973). On October 29, 1947, Paolo Enrico married Oretta Anna Maria dei Marchese Sacchetti (* 1923), the daughter of Giovanni Battista Sacchetti , Marchese di Castelromani, and Matilda Lante della Rovere in Rome ; the marriage had four children.
The family seat is the Palazzo Massimo Lancellotti ( Palazzo Lancelotti-Torres ) built in 1542 on Piazza Navona in Rome.
Life
Paolo Enrico Massimo Lancellotti received a doctorate in law and entered the diplomatic service. He was Consul of Italy in Tunis and Embassy Secretary in Brussels . He was Italy's ambassador to the Holy See , later appointed honorary ambassador of Italy.
Massimo Lancellotti was Gentiluomo della Sua Santitá ( Chamberlain of His Holiness), a high-ranking member of the Papal House, and was present at all papal ceremonies alongside Prince Colonna and Orsini. He was the last bearer of an award for special faithfulness reserved for Catholic queens, the Golden Rose. Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Caprio appointed him Governor General of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . Cardinal Grand Master Carlo Furno appointed him general governor of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in 1995 . In 1995 he was able to obtain his doctorate from the Belgian King Albert II as a collar knight of the order; Paola of Belgium was already the collar lady of the order. Crown Prince Philippe was made a Grand Cross Knight. Massimo Lancellotti himself was a collar knight of the order.
