Paolo Salman

Paolo Salman (born January 25, 1886 in Damascus , Syria , † July 1, 1948 ) was the first archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church , on May 2, 1932 by Pope Pius XI. founded, Archarche of Petra and Philadelphia in Jordan .

Life

He was ordained a priest on July 20, 1911 . He received his appointment as archbishop on the founding day of the archeparchy and on June 5, 1932 he was ordained bishop . After the official confirmation of office on May 13, 1933, he performed his archbishopric until his death on July 1, 1948. Mikhayl Assaf was his successor .
