papperts , also known as the Pappert bakery , is a company based in Poppenhausen in East Hesse in the Rhön .

The company was founded in 1928 by Wilhelm Pappert, who laid the foundation stone for today's business after he was the second son and unable to take over his parents' bakery in Hünfeld . Apparently he started with ten sacks of flour that he had brought with him. The current owner of the company, Bernd Pappert, is the 7th generation of bakers in the Pappert family in Poppenhausen.

In the first generations the business was a local bakery. After taking over the business in 1964, after setting up a new bakery, the father of the current owner began supplying the supermarkets of today's Tegut Group. In 1994 the bakery was relocated to the outskirts of Poppenhausen. In 2016, the size of the bakery was increased to 6,000 square meters. In 2018, 180 employees worked there in several shifts . Every day ten tons of flour are processed into 200,000 rolls, bread and the entire range of baked goods and confectionery.

(As of October 2018) 110 branches with 1,500 employees are supplied. These are increasingly being expanded into catering establishments that offer baked goods and coffee as well as non-bakery foods such as pizza and salads.
