The Parvovirinae are a subfamily of the Parvoviridae virus family . In contrast to the second subfamily, the Densovirinae found in arthropods , the Parvovirinae are only able to reproduce in vertebrate animals or in vitro only in cell cultures of vertebrate cells. Unlike the Densovirinae , their genome does not consist of either positive or negative-stranded DNA; Mixed forms are not packaged, they do not have an ambisense DNA.

Systematics

The Parvovirinae include according to ICTV as at November 2018 eight genera:

  • Family Parvoviridae
  • Subfamily Parvovirinae

The former genus Parvovirus was split into the genera Aveparvovirus , Copiparvovirus , Protoparvovirus and Tetraparvovirus in 2015 .
