Otto Pasedag (born February 12, 1877 in Neustrelitz ; † March 15, 1915 ) was a German civil engineer , construction clerk and council member in the community of Weißensee .

Life

Otto Pasedag studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart and later played a key role in the development of what is now Berlin's district as a councilor for community development in Weißensee . In addition to Carl Woelck and Hermann Ruthenberg , after the union of the village and estate district of Weißensee, he planned the division into areas with upscale, medium-sized and simple residential areas and the large commercial and industrial areas separated from them. This was to lay the foundation stone for a city of Weißensee that was independent of its direct neighbor Berlin.

His work came to an abrupt end when he in 1915 as a soldier (sergeant in the Landwehr Infantry Regiment. 48) in the First World War fell.

Pasedagplatz

On July 26, 1927, as a personal honor, the place No. 14 in Weissensee was renamed Pasedagplatz. It is located on the north side of Rennbahnstrasse across from Schönstrasse . As the end point of tram lines 12 and 27, it is present in everyday city life. Otherwise it is of minor importance with an area of approx. 3000 m². To the north is the Weißensee industrial park, which was established on both sides of the Tegel – Friedrichsfelde industrial line at the beginning of the 20th century. The green space has the shape of an oval oriented in a northeast-southwest direction; it is bordered on the south and east by apartment blocks. On the northwest side of the square is a modern building with offices for various service companies.
