Patrick Gaillard (born February 12, 1952 in Paris ) is a former French Formula 1 and sports car racing driver. He started in two Grand Prix races for the Ensign team; he failed to qualify three times.

Career

After good performances in French Formula Renault and Formula 3 , Gaillard was given a cockpit in Formula 2 in 1979 and in the same year a place in Formula 1 in the British Ensign team , which had become vacant after unsatisfactory performance by driver Derek Daly . However, the Ensign N179 was not a competitive car, so Gaillard could only qualify for two Grand Prix in his career. His only crossing of the finish line was in 13th place at the British Grand Prix . After these results and after failing to qualify for the Dutch Grand Prix , Gaillard had to vacate his cockpit in favor of Marc Surer . In the following years he did not manage to return to Formula 1.

After his involvement in Formula 1, Gaillard drove again in Formula 2 , in the Canadian CanAm series and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans .
