Paul Affeldt

Paul E. Affeldt (born November 2, 1931 in Camarillo , California , † February 23, 2004 in Ventura , California) was an American writer and record producer of ragtime , blues and early jazz , mainly as a publisher in the United States of the Jazz Report became known.

Affeldt was the author and editor of the Jazz Report from 1960 to 1983 , when this journal for record collectors merged with The Mississippi Rag and he became its co-editor. Since 1961 he has produced a number of albums on his label Euphonic Sound Recordings , named after his favorite rag. The first LPs albums included music by ragtime pioneer Brun Campbell ; This was followed by recordings by Speckled Red , Roosevelt Sykes , Euday Bowman , Paul Lingle ( Dance of the Witch Hazels - At the Jug Club 1951 ), John Bently & His Buddies, Piano Red ( Dr. Feelgood , 1976), David Thomas Roberts , Jim Turner , Stump Johnson , Bill Mitchell / Hal Smith ( Echoes of Chicago ), Dave Jasen , Charles Hubbard Thompson or Knocky Parker ( Eight in Eighty-Eight ). Affeldt owned a record collection of early jazz by pianists such as Fats Waller , James P. Johnson , Meade Lux Lewis and Art Hodes . Some Euphonic productions were later re-released as compact discs on Delmark Records .
