Paul Brandvik

Paul Brandvik (* 1937 in Fargo / North Dakota ) is an American composer, choir conductor and music teacher.

Brandvik studied school music at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota (until 1959), vocal music at the University of Wisconsin (until 1965) and choral music at the University of Illinois (until 1969). He then became choir director at Bemidji State University , where he worked until his retirement in 1998, and took part with the Bemidji Choir in choir festivals in the USA, Austria, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain and Israel.

He has acted as a guest conductor at over one hundred choir festivals, taught eight summers at the International Choir Conductors Course in Belgium, gave courses for the Music Educators National Conference , the American Choral Directors Association and the International Society for Music Education, and led the all-state choirs of Minnesota, Arkansas, and Montana. He also composed and arranged more than fifty choral works, published The Compleet Madrigal Dinner Booke and was co-author of the textbook Up Front: Becoming the Complete Choral Conductor .
