Paul Carrack
Paul Melvyn Carrack (born April 22, 1951 in Sheffield , England ) is a British songwriter , singer , keyboardist and guitarist and was a member of Mike & the Mechanics .
Life
Carrack founded the 1970 psychedelic rock - band Warm Dust. He joined Ace two years later and was the writer and singer of their biggest hit, How Long . After the band split in 1977, Carrack began working with country musician Frankie Miller . From 1978 to 1980 he was involved as a keyboardist on two Roxy Music albums , but also later in studio recordings. Between 1980 and 1981 Carrack recorded his first album. For a short time he was a substitute for Jools Holland with Squeeze and sang one of their most famous songs with Tempted .
In 1985 Carrack was hired by Mike Rutherford as a singer for his band Mike & the Mechanics , which in the following year among other things with the singles Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground) and All I Need Is a Miracle , which are in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 , made her musical breakthrough. He also worked in Roger Waters ' companion band The Bleeding Heart Band, with whom he took part in recordings for the soundtrack of the feature film When the Wind blows .
In 1987 he played on Waters' solo album Radio Kaos and the following tour . In the same year Carrack achieved his greatest success as a solo artist, the single Don't Shed a Tear reached number 9 in the US charts. In 1994 he was co-author of the Eagles -Titel Love Will Keep Us Alive , the single was 10 weeks at No. 1 on the US adult contemporary charts. In 1996 he was able to place two singles in the British Top 40 . His albums Winter Wonderland and A Soulful Christmas were created with the SWR Big Band in 2005 .
Carrack continued to work as a studio musician. He was as a keyboard player at Elton John's album Made in England and The Big Picture involved, as well as on the title Something About the Way You Look Tonight , which on the back of the best-selling single of all time, Candle in the Wind '97 , using found. In 2006 his best-of album Greatest Hits - The Story so Far was released . In 2013 Carrack accompanied Eric Clapton on his tour.
