Paul Goerens

Joseph Paul Goerens (born January 29, 1882 in Bonneweg , † October 22, 1945 in Velen ) was a German metallurgist .

Life

After attending the École industrial et commerciale in Luxembourg , he studied iron and steel engineering at the Technical University in Aachen from 1899 , where he graduated in 1904. He was then employed as an assistant and from 1906 was a lecturer in metallurgy , materials science and electrical steel production. In 1917 he got a job as a consultant at Friedrich Krupp AG , where he became department director and authorized signatory from 1918 . In 1924 he became deputy director and from January 1, 1929 a member of the technical directorate of the group and headed the metallurgy and steelworks divisions. In the implementation of the National Socialist Law on the Order of National Labor , Goerens was appointed works manager in 1934 and military manager in 1937 . After the reorganization of the board in 1943 , he handed over the management of the cast steel factory to Eduard Houdremont and restricted his participation to a nominal activity on the board of directors.

On September 10, 1945, he was from the Allies taken to the Velen, where he on October 22 suicide committed.
