Paul Pollock mainly paints with tempera , but also with watercolors on fabric and paper. He describes himself in his painting process as an 'explorer'. Traveling, in the sense of his exploration of color, for him does not mean passive enjoyment, indulging in color, but active exploration, as well as getting to know and recognize what is new to him on this journey.

The spatiality of a picture thus comprises different levels of work and experience, which are shaped by both external impressions and internal observations. His pictures are created in a process of exchange between the inside (of the painter) and the outside of his environment.
