Paul Montgomery "Pauly" Shore (born February 1, 1968 in Los Angeles ) is an American comedian and actor .

Life

Pauly Shore is the son of Sam and Mitzi Shore, the founders of the comedy club The Comedy Store . Born in Hollywood , he grew up in Beverly Hills . In 1986 he graduated from high school .

Shore performed as a stand-up comedian and had minor roles in several films and television series in the late 1980s. He became known to a wider audience in 1989 as the MTV presenter . He had his own show, Totally Pauly , in which he also invented his trademark, The Weasel , a parody of a self-loving, eccentric and planned but ultimately lovable surfer . In 1994 his time with MTV ended. However, Shore became popular primarily through his roles in comedies in the early 1990s.

With Stone Age Junior from 1992 he had his final breakthrough on the big screen, although he was also awarded the Golden Raspberry for his acting achievements in this film . Later films were less successful and its steep rise was followed by a gradual decline. In 1997, his TV comedy series Pauly was discontinued after just one episode of FOX . Finally he received the Golden Raspberry in the category “Worst Newcomer of the Decade” . The late 1990s, when there were no lucrative film offers, Shore mainly spent as a voice actor.

He started a comeback attempt that was noticed by critics and fans in 2003 with his self- deprecating mockumentary Pauly Shore is Dead . Most recently, he appeared on a comedy show on American television, in which, among other things, he addressed his sex addiction .

Pauly Shore had relationships with Susanna Hoffs ( The Bangles ) (1989), the porn actress Savannah (1991-1992) and with Kylie Minogue (1997).
