Paweł Mykietyn
Paweł Mykietyn (born May 20, 1971 in Oława ) is a Polish composer.
Life
Paweł Mykietyn studied composition at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw . He graduated in 1996. In addition to his chamber music and orchestral works, he was best known for his theater compositions for productions by directors such as Krzysztof Warlikowski and Grzegorz Jarzyna . In 2000 he was awarded the Paszport Prize by the Polish weekly newspaper Polityka . Since the film Life in Me , he has composed the music for all of Małgorzata Szumowska's films . For Life In Me he was presented at the 2004 Polish Film Festival in Gdyniaexcellent. In 2008 he composed the music for the film Tatarak by Andrzej Wajda and received the Polish Film Prize in 2009 and 2011 for his music to Małgorzata Szumowska's 33 Scenes from Life and Jerzy Skolimowski Essential Killing . In 2008 he won the Polish Media Prize for his 2nd symphony.
His Mark Passion (2008) caused a sensation and a public controversy. Krzysztof Penderecki indicated in an interview that Mykietyn had used his dramatic conception of the (unfinished) St. John Passion, about which he had spoken publicly. (Penderecki was commissioned to write a St. John Passion on the occasion of the rededication of the Dresden Frauenkirche, but has not yet completed his work.)
