Peritonism

Peritonism is an irritant condition of the peritoneum without any inflammation of the peritoneum ( peritonitis ).

Peritonism is expressed by:

  • Abdominal wall painful pressure on manual examination ( palpation )
  • Pain in letting go: if the hand is suddenly pulled away from the abdomen during the manual examination, the patient also feels pain
  • not obligatory defense tension : d. H. involuntary tensing of the patient's abdominal muscles. In extreme cases, one speaks of a "board-hard" stomach.
