Pedro Nolasco Jústiz Rodríguez ( Pedro Jústiz ; born December 31, 1913 in Holguín , † December 24, 1977 in Havana ), known as Peruchín , was a Cuban pianist , composer and arranger .

Peruchín got his first musical education from his mother. He continued it from 1928 with his uncle Emilio Rodríguez , director of the municipal orchestra of Antilla. He also took piano lessons from Juan Pérez . From 1933 he was a member of the Orquesta Chepín-Chovén in Santiago de Cuba.

He later joined the Orquesta Casino de la Playa in Havana . With the Swing Boys he went on a tour to Panama, where he became a member of Carlos Boza's orchestra . In 1940 he became a pianist in the Conjunto Matamoros and in the orchestra of Armando Romeu , and in 1941 in the orchestra of Mariano Mercerón . From 1950 he belonged to Benny Morés Banda Gigante . Finally he founded his own group with which he performed at the Cabaret Tropicana .

Peruchín also founded a trio with the double bassist Aristóteles Limonta and the drummer Rodolfo Castiñeira . In another trio formation he worked with the double bass player Orlando López ( Cachaíto ) and the drummer Tibo Lee . At Club Cubano de Jazz he performed with the group of Papito Hernández and Israel López (with Walfredito de los Reyes , Guillermo Barreto and Tata Güines ).

In the 1960s he formed a group with Tibo Lee on drums, Armandito Zequeira on double bass and Regino Tellechea as singer. With Frank Emilio Flynn he shared the functions of the Los Amigos pianist . He also appeared as the pianist of Merceditas Valdés (with Jesús Pérez on drums) and was a member of Justico Antobal's Cuban All Stars .

Peruchín was popular and admired as a pianist, and his solos have been recorded several times. He was also active as a composer, arranger and orchestrator (especially for Benny Moré). His son Pedro Andrés Jústiz Márquez ( Peruchín Jr. ) and his grandson Rodolfo Argudín Jústiz (also known as Peruchín ) are successful musicians.
