Peter-René Becker (* 1949 in Kiel ) is a German biologist and ethologist .

He attended the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hanover from 1960 to 1968 and studied biology and ethnology at the University of Göttingen from 1968 to 1980 and was there in 1980 with the work The influence of experience on the triggering of the penetration reaction in some African mouth-brooding cichlids (Cichlidae ) PhD .

From October 1997, Becker was head of the natural history department at the Überseemuseum Bremen . He looks after the natural history collection with over a million items and works on the natural history parts of the exhibitions in the museum. Becker is interested in the intersections of natural, national and commercial studies.

On October 1, 2011, Becker took over the management of the State Museum for Nature and Man in Oldenburg.
