Peter Abrahams (writer, 1947)

Peter Abrahams (born June 28, 1947 in Boston ) is an American bestselling author of detective novels, thrillers and books for young people. He also writes under the pseudonym Spencer Quinn .

Life

Abrahams worked on radio and television in Ottawa after graduating from Williams College . At the end of the 1970s, he began writing detective novels and thrillers, and later books for young people. In 2005 he won an Agatha Award in the category Best Children's and Young People's Book for What Happened in Echo Falls . He has been nominated several times for the Edgar Allan Poe Award . Stephen King said in connection with the Echo Falls series that Peter Abrahams was his "favorite American suspense novelist".

Since 2009 Abrahams has been writing crime comedies under the pseudonym Spencer Quinn about the unequal detective team Bernie and Chet. The books are told from the perspective of the dog Chet. Abrahams also runs a blog in the role of Chet.

Abraham has four grown children; he lives with his wife on Cape Cod .
