Peter Checkland
Peter Bernard Checkland (born December 18, 1930 in Birmingham ) is a British management researcher .
After studying chemistry at St John's College (Oxford) , he worked for Imperial Chemical Industries for 15 years . He then joined the Systems Engineering Department at Lancaster University , where he led an action research program .
Checkland is the founder of the Soft Systems Methodology of systems thinking . He has several honorary doctorates ( City University London , Open University , Erasmus University Rotterdam , University of Economics in Prague ).
