Peter the Manuelian
Peter Der Manuelian (born April 15, 1959 ) is an American Egyptologist .
Life
Manuelian graduated from Harvard University . From 1977 he took part in excavations in Giza and Naqada . In 1981 he gained in the subject Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations the Bachelor -degree. Through the Fulbright program and the DAAD , he came from 1981 to 1982 as a scholarship holder at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen . He then moved to the University of Chicago , where he took part in the exploration of temples of the New Kingdom in Luxor from 1984 to 1987 . In 1990 he received his PhD from the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.
Manuelian has worked for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts since 1987 and has been leading the museum's excavations in the Giza necropolis since 1993. Between 2000 and 2010 he worked as a lecturer in Egyptology at the Department of Classics at Tufts University and between 2001 and 2003 at the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University. From 2003 to 2008 Manuelian also worked as a Research Associate at the Semitic Museum at Harvard University. Since 2010 he has held the Chair of Egyptology at Harvard University and since 2013 Director of the Semitic Museum.
