Peter Klotzbach
Peter Klotzbach (born October 17, 1875 in Barmen ; † July 25, 1947 in Wuppertal ) was a German architect and architecture teacher. He is considered a representative of the Heimatschutz style and also designed numerous school and administrative buildings as well as a number of monuments. As far as his buildings are preserved, they are mostly - in whole or in part - under monument protection .
Life
After his practical training with an architect in Barmen and the subsequent visit to the building trade school in Idstein , Peter Klotzbach initially worked as an employee in various architectural offices. From 1900 to 1915 he worked as a teacher at the Kunstgewerbeschule Barmen , from 1909 onwards, parallel to his teaching activities, he acted as a building consultant for the district of Opladen , and later also for the districts of Gummersbach , Lennep , Mettmann and Waldbröl . In 1913 he was appointed professor.
Klotzbach took part in the First World War as a soldier. After the war he worked as a freelancer in Barmen, at the end of the 1920s in a partnership or in a joint office with the architect Paul Fliether .
Peter Klotzbach was a member of the German Werkbund (DWB), the Association of German Architects (BDA) and the Bergisch Architects and Engineers Association in Wuppertal .
