Peter Louis Cakü

Peter Louis Cakü (born March 23, 1952 in Nali ; † February 20, 2020 in Kengtung ) was a Myanmar clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Kengtung .

Life

Peter Louis Cakü studied philosophy and theology in the diocesan seminary, then in the main seminary in Rangoon . He was ordained a priest on April 4, 1982 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Kengtung and titular bishop of Abidda on May 20, 1997 (until 2001). He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Thailand , Singapore and Cambodia and the Apostolic Delegate in Myanmar , Laos and Malaysia , Archbishop Luigi Bressan , on December 8th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Abraham Than , Bishop of Kengtung, and Alphonse U Than Aung , Archbishop of Mandalay .

On October 2, 2001, he was appointed Bishop of Kengtung. He held this office until his death in 2020.
