Peter Muster

Peter Muster (born May 28, 1952 ) is a former Swiss sprinter. He won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run at the 1978 European Championships.

In 1973, Peter Muster won his first Swiss championship title over 200 meters, followed by five more titles by 1978. In 1980 and 1982 he won two more titles, and in the years in between, Franco Fähndrich won , who was also mostly Swiss champion in the 100 meter run during Muster's career .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Muster was eliminated in the quarterfinals in 21.09 s. Two years later at the European Championships in Prague in 1978 , Muster only barely survived the first round with 21.04 seconds as fourth of his prelim. In the interim he finished second behind the Italian Pietro Mennea in 20.63 s . In the final, Muster reached 20.64 s and received bronze behind Mennea and Olaf Prenzler from the GDR. The Swiss 4 x 100 meter relay with Franco Fähndrich, Urs Gisler , Peter Muster and Hansjörg Ziegler also reached the final and finished seventh in 39.56 s. With the same line-up, the season had improved the Swiss record to 39.19 s a month earlier in Bern, a record that lasted for almost 30 years.

In 1976, Muster set a Swiss record in the 200-meter run with 20.46 seconds. In addition to the national record with the national relay, pattern improved with the relay of LC Zurich and multiple Swiss records for club relays . With a height of 1.75 m, Muster had a competition weight of 68 kg.
