Peter Schettler

Peter Schettler (born April 30, 1944 in Pleißa ) is a German painter , draftsman and graphic artist .

Life

From 1960 to 1963 Schettler received training at the Workers 'and Farmers' Faculty of the Dresden University of Fine Arts . Between 1963 and 1965 he trained as a decorative painter . In 1965 he returned to the Academy of Fine Arts and graduated there in 1970 with a diploma in panel painting . The freelance painter and graphic artist has lived in Chemnitz since 1970 .

Initially, Schettler dealt with figurative representations. Hand drawings, woodcuts and etchings were also created. Typical of him are late Expressionist landscapes, which he devoted himself to after 1976. Between 1994 and 2002 his work focused on watercolors; In 2002 he turned back to oil painting. Schettler's works are in the possession of public and private collections.
