The G 3 were freight steam locomotives of the Palatinate Railways .

description

The locomotives were purchased by the Pfalzbahn in order to cope with the increasing train loads as a result of the economic boom in the 1890s. The trains had to be hauled by two to three C locomotives on the steep low mountain ranges. The machines were originally intended for Norway and could be acquired cheaply as bankruptcy assets . These were the last locomotives delivered to Germany by Sharp, Stewart and Company . They were stationed in Neustadt (Weinstrasse) , among other places .

The design of the machines corresponded to English locomotive types with slightly angled cylinders, drive on the third coupling axle and internal control. The Deutsche Reichsbahn signed six copies under the numbers 55 7001–7006 and decommissioned them in 1924. The vehicles were traveling with a Tender equipped to type 2 T. 8
