Parish church in Silbertal

The parish church of Silbertal is the Roman Catholic parish church in the Austrian municipality of Silbertal .

history

The pre-church has been handed down as a branch church of the parish church Bartholomäberg as St. Nikolaus im Muntafune and St. Nikolaus im Silberberg , as the place name Silbertal was not established until the 17th century. It was the church of the Walsers who immigrated around 1300 and cleared and settled steep uninhabited forests. On April 21, 1332, Bishop Ulrich von Chur consecrated the church to the saints of the Walsers St. Nicholas and St. Mauritius .

On the forecourt of the church, right in front of the cemetery wall, was the war memorial of the Silbertal community from 1968 to 2009 to commemorate the local sons who died in the First and Second World Wars . In the course of a historical appraisal of a Nazi perpetrator named in the name inscriptions of the fallen , the memorial was removed from the community in June 2009. Instead of the previous war memorial, a memorial place is now to be created.

The parish church was built on the site of the pre-church under Pastor Adolf Nachbauer according to plans by Friedrich von Schmidt , as a late work by the architect in the early Gothic style, by the builder Fidel Kröner from Feldkirch from 1892 to 1893, and on October 12, 1893 by Auxiliary Bishop Zobl consecrated.

The pulpit is a work by the sculptor Moriz Schlachter from Ravensburg. The high altar, as well as the Sacred Heart altar and the Mother of God altar as side altars, were made by August Valentin in Brixen and were built from 1909 to 1911. The organ was built in 1903 by Anton Behmann from Schwarzach. The organ was officially audited on November 12, 1903, a Silbertaler holiday combined with a morning and afternoon service, with the audience members Beda Öser, pastor in Blons and headmaster Wanderer from Schruns.
