Sir Philip Nigel Ross Green (born March 15, 1952 in Croydon , London ) is a British entrepreneur and the chairman of the retail company Arcadia Group . The following brands also belong to the group: Topshop , Topman, Wallis, Evans, Burton, Miss Selfridge , Dorothy Perkins and Outfit.

Life

Green came from a Jewish family and attended Carmel College in Oxfordshire . His father was a successful real estate developer and retailer. In 1988 Green became chairman and CEO of the British company Amber Day , which he ran until 1992. In the early 1990s he acquired the British company Owen Owen in Liverpool. In 2002 he bought the British company Arcadia Group and made his wife its owner. The Arcadia Group acquired Etam UK in 2005.

According to the US Forbes Magazine , Green is one of the richest Britons.

Green is married to South African entrepreneur Tina Green and has two children. The family mainly lives in Monaco . Among other things, Green owns the luxury yacht "Lionheart", which is moored in Bermuda , where Green has her own luxury property.

During the week, Green lives in a hotel in London and he spends his weekends in an apartment in Monaco with his wife and children, Chloe and Brandon .

In 2005 his son Brandon celebrated his bar mitzvah on the French Riviera with around 200 people. Andrea Bocelli and Destiny's Child were flown in especially for it. Green paid £ 4 million for the bar mitzvah. His nephew's bar mitzvah was celebrated at Madame Tussauds in London, where celebrities such as B. Green is a huge Tottenham Hotspur fan. In 1987 he proposed Irving Scholar , chairman of the Spurs, to appoint Tony Berry to the board. In 1991 he helped Terry Venables raise £ 500,000 which was needed to purchase shares in the club. He was also involved in the transfers of Rio Ferdinand from Leeds United and Louis Saha from Fulham FC to Manchester United .

Green is involved with Everton Football Club because of his friendship with Chairman Bill Kenwright , but states that he has no intention of officially investing in the club.
