Phoebe Belle Cates (born July 16, 1963 in New York City ) is an American actress .

Life

Cate's father, Joseph, was a well-known New York television producer. At the age of 16 she was already working regularly as a model and appeared on the covers of youth magazines. She made her film debut in 1982 at the age of 19 in the film Blue Paradise - to the displeasure of her father: Since Cates had to interrupt her final year of school because of the film, she never finished high school . In 1983 she applied unsuccessfully for a role in the film The Great Frustration . She met fellow actor Kevin Kline , with whom she later moved in. They married in 1989 and have two children.

The American rock band Fenix ​​* TX released a song called Phoebe Cates on their album Lechuza in 2001 . The song was part of the soundtrack of the feature film American Pie 2 .
