Physalis lignescens is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Physalis lignescens is a hairy shrub with protruding to adjacent trichomes . The leaves are egg-shaped to triangular-egg-shaped, the edge is whole to slightly wavy. The leaves are 3.5 to 6 cm long and 2.5 to 4 cm wide, they are on 1 to 2 cm long petioles .

The flowers are on 8 to 15 mm long pedicels . The calyx is 4 to 6 mm long at the flowering time and measures 3.5 to 6 cm in diameter at the base of the calyx tips. The calyx lobes are lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate and 2.5 to 3 mm long. The crown is yellow and spotted, 13 to 16 mm long and 20 to 22 mm wide. The anthers are purple and 2 to 2.5 wide. The stamens are 4 to 6 mm long.

At the first description only one unripe fruit was known, this was surrounded by a 28 mm long and 15 mm wide calyx, the berry was 8 to 9 mm in diameter.

Occurrence

The species is common in Mexico .

Systematics

Within the genus of the bladder cherries ( Physalis ), the species is classified in the Coztomatae section of the subgenus Rydbergis .
