Physalis longipedicellata is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Physalis longipedicellata is a branched, perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches a height of 1 m. The hair consists of dense, articulated trichomes that are up to 2 mm long, but the majority are only 0.3 to 0.6 mm long. The leaves are broadly ovate to lanceolate and occasionally uneven. To the front they are pointed, the edges are serrated or wavy to entire. The larger leaves are 6 to 10 mm long and 3 to 6 cm wide. The leaf stalks are 3 to 6 cm long and narrowly winged.

The fruits stand on stems 20 to 45 mm long . The chalice is to fruit ripening 22 to 26 mm long and 20 to 24 mm wide and densely covered with short hair, some standing between them longer. The cross-section of the calyx is pentagonal. The calyx tips are lanceolate and pointed and 6 to 8 mm long. The berry has a diameter of 1 cm.

The characteristics of the flower were unknown when it was first described.

Occurrence

The species is common in Mexico .

Systematics

Within the genus of the bladder cherries ( Physalis ), the species is classified in the Coztomatae section of the subgenus Rydbergis .
