Physalis mcvaughii is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Physalis mcvaughii is a 1.5 to 2.5 m high shrub that is hairy with short trichomes . The leaves are ovate to rhombic ovate, pointed and 7 to 13 cm long, and 4 to 9 cm wide. The leaf margin is serrated, the petiole is 1.5 to 5.5 cm long.
The flowers are on 25 to 30 mm long peduncles , which extend to 40 to 55 mm on the fruits. The calyx is 8 to 9 mm long at the flower, measures 10 to 15 mm in diameter at the base of the calyx lobes, the calyx lobes are triangular and 3 to 5 mm long. The crown is spotted, bell-shaped-wheel-shaped to curved-back-wheel-shaped and measures 11 to 13 mm in length and 20 to 25 mm in diameter. The anthers are purple in color, 2.7 to 3.5 mm long and stand on 3 to 4 mm long stamens .
The fruit is a 15 to 20 mm diameter berry , which is surrounded by an enlarging calyx. This is decagonal, with the corners, where the sepals are fused, are more pronounced than the remaining five corners. The fruit calyx reaches a length of 25 to 45 mm and a diameter of 25 to 35 mm.

The species is named after the collector of the type specimen Rogers McVaugh.
