“Il Piccolo Coro dell'Antoniano ” ( The Little Choir of Antoniano ) is an internationally known Italian children's choir from Bologna ( Italy ), which supports among other things the young performers of the Zecchino d'Oro . The children are usually between the ages of 4 and 11 and perform nursery rhymes that promote peace and love. From the initial 5 members, the once small choir now has around 60 members.

Development and activities

The choir was founded in 1963 by Mariele Ventre at the Institut Antoniano dei Frati Minori , a non-profit organization founded by Franciscan Minorites , with the purpose of supporting the Zecchino d'Oro , an Italian children's song festival.

Since the children who took part in the Zecchino d'Oro Song Festival between 1959 and 1962 felt at home at the Antoniano and insisted on being allowed to continue singing, the small choir was officially founded in 1963 and has since taken in a large group of children.

Children who no longer correspond to the age group (approx. 4 to 11 years; exceptions not excluded) of the Piccolo Coro can join the youth choir Le Verdi Note dell'Antoniano, founded especially for this purpose in 1989 .

Piccolo Coro “Mariele Ventre” dell'Antoniano

After Mariele Ventre's death in 1995, the children's choir was renamed and since then has been officially named Piccolo Coro “Mariele Ventre” dell'Antoniano in her honor .

From 1995 until today the children's choir has been conducted by Sabrina Simoni with the artistic assistance of Antonella Tosti and the organization of Daniela Giuliani .

Since its inception until today, the Piccolo Coro “Mariele Ventre” dell'Antoniano has recorded over 1000 pieces of music . In addition to the annual Zecchino d'Oro event , the choir is often invited to television programs and has participated in various productions.

Unicef ​​goodwill ambassador

In 2003 the Piccolo Coro “Mariele Ventre” dell'Antoniano was declared the official “ UNICEF - Goodwill Ambassador ” ,
