Pierre Antoniucci

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pierre Antoniucci (born November 26, 1943 in Paris ) is a contemporary French painter . He also works as a draftsman, engraver and sculptor.

The independent Antoniucci, who himself stands between figurative and abstract art , questions contemporary painting, including its tradition, subject matter and support. Due to his lumpy, dull and doughy-heavy painting, he is stylistically counted among the “matierists” (“les matiéristes”). These artists cultivate a style that emerged in France after World War II. His favorite subjects are women and the appearance of his studio.

Antoniucci's works are regularly exhibited in Rennes . An exhibition in the USA in 2013 showed two large groups of works by Antoniucci from the past ten years.
