Pierre Christin (born July 27, 1938 in Saint-Mandé ) is a French author who is mainly active as a comics scenario .

biography

After graduating from the Sorbonne in Paris, Christin taught political science and became professor of French literature at the University of Salt Lake City in Utah , USA . His first comic book story, Le Rhum du Punch , illustrated by his childhood friend Jean-Claude Mézières , was published in Pilote magazine in 1966 . Christin returned to France the following year to join the faculty at the University of Bordeaux . That year he worked again with Mézières on the science fiction series Valerian & Veronique for Pilote . The first episode was Les Mauvais Rêves (Eng. "Bad Dreams").

In addition to the stories about Valerian & Veronique , which are intended more for a young readership, Christin created the Légendes d'aujourd'hui (German legends of the present), a series together with the cartoonists Enki Bilal and Jacques Tardi (only one comic) Political thriller with sometimes fantastic elements, including Partie de Chasse . For Annie Goetzinger he wrote La Diva et le Kriegsspiel (Eng. "The Diva"). The comic depicts a tribunal against a French opera singer who is accused of collaborating with the Nazis towards the end of World War II. He also worked with comic artists such as François Boucq and Daniel Ceppi and also wrote screenplays and science fiction novels.

In 1996 he was awarded the Max and Moritz Prize in the Best International Scenario Category at the Erlangen International Comic Salon and in 2010 the special prize for an outstanding life's work.
