Pilosocereus leucocephalus is a species of plant in the genus Pilosocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet leucocephalus means 'with a white head'. Common names are "Cabeza de Viejo", "Órgano", "Pitayón" and "Tuno".

Pilosocereus leucocephalus grows tree-like with a short, clearly defined trunk, upright or ascending green to blue-green shoots with a diameter of 6 to 10 centimeters and a height of 2 to 5 meters. There are 7 to 12 ribs. The initially brownish thorns turn gray later. The single central spine is 2 to 3 centimeters long. The 8 to 12 slender radial spines are 1 to 2 inches long. The flowering part of the shoots close to the tip or to the side is clearly distinguishable and comprises 3 to 4 ribs, from whose areoles numerous silky, white, 4 to 10 centimeters long hairs arise.
The tubular to bell-shaped flowers are more or less pink to whitish. They are up to 6 inches long. The spherical fruits reach a diameter of up to 4 centimeters and contain a magenta colored pulp.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
The distribution area of Pilosocereus leucocephalus extends from east to south of Mexico and from there further south to Guatemala , Nicaragua and Honduras . The first description as Pilocereus leucocephalus was published in 1853 by Heinrich Poselger (1818-1883). Ronald Stewart Byles and Gordon Douglas Rowley placed them in the genus Pilosocereus in 1957 . A synonym is Cephalocereus leucocephalus (Poselg.) Britton & Rose .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
