Pilsner doilies

Two Krombacher pillows and pillows. The pilsner cover with the label facing downwards distinguishes the shandy from the pils.

A Pilsdeckchen , also a beer rosette , a Pils rosette , a beer collar , a pil collar or a drip catcher , is a round piece of absorbent paper. It is placed around the stem of a beer glass - usually a Pilstulpe . This prevents foam running down and the condensation water that forms on the cold beer glass from running over the stem onto the table surface.

Like the beer coasters , the Pilsdeckchen are usually printed with the company logo of the respective brewery and are made available to the restaurant by the latter . Deviating from the round shape with a hole in the middle and an incision to hang on, there are in rare cases brewery-specific features. There are also advertising imprints that do not refer to a brewery but relate to the local area around the restaurant.
