Pinamar is a major seaside resort in eastern Argentina . It is located in the southeast of the province of Buenos Aires on the Atlantic Ocean and is the capital of the Partido Pinamar of the same name . The city has 25,397 permanent residents and is one of the fastest growing places in Argentina.
location
Pinamar is located on a flat part of the Atlantic coast with wide sandy beaches. There are some pine forests around the city, but these are giving way to more and more hotel and holiday home complexes. The surrounding area belongs to the Pampa plain. The climate is oceanic and temperate with moderately warm summers and mild winters.
history
The area of the seaside resort originally belonged to an estancia, whose owner Valeria Guerrero set up the first beach huts. In 1938 she commissioned the architect Jorge Bunge with the foresting of the shifting dunes and the establishment of a seaside resort. The road network was laid out in 1940 and the first hotels and restaurants opened in 1942. Although the place soon experienced a rapid boom as a tourist center and was connected to the railway network as early as 1949, it was not recognized as an independent municipality until 1978. Between 1980 and 2001, the population quadrupled from 4,500 to over 20,000, and an end to growth is not in sight due to the urban exodus that is widespread in Argentina .

Pinamar was considered an exclusive seaside resort in Argentina, where prices, especially in the outskirts of Cariló and Valeria del Mar, were only affordable for those with higher incomes . Today this has changed a little, even members of the middle class visit the seaside resort thanks to some cheaper hotels, which has led to a tourism boom. Around 500,000 guests visit the place each season.
