Piscataway Township is a municipality in Middlesex County, New Jersey , United States . In the 2010 census , 56,044 inhabitants were registered.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 49.1 km 2 , of which 48.6 km 2 is land and 0.5 km 2 (1.05%) is water. In the southwest the Raritan River borders the Piscataway. The Society Hill settlement is listed as a census-designated place by the US statistical agency.
Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there are 50,482 people, 16,500 households and 12,325 families in the city. The population density is 1,037.9 inhabitants per km 2 . 48.81% of the population are White, 20.31% African American , 0.21% Native American , 24.80% Asian , 0.03% Pacific Islander , 3.08% Other Ethnicity, and 2.77% Mixed Race . 7.93% are Latinos of any race.
