Planet of the Apes was a short-lived science fiction - television series of the US channel CBS that appeal to the same movie leaned from the 1968th Directed by Arnold Laven and Don Weis, the screenplay was written by Anthony Wilson.
The series ran in the USA from September 13, 1974 to December 13, 1974 and showed new adventures of a team of astronauts who make an emergency landing on a future world and must find that it is dominated by the apes. The episodes were first shown in Germany in 1989.

Astronauts Alan Virdon and Pete Burke have to make an emergency landing with their spaceship on Earth. They are amazed to find that they are in the year 3085. Things seem to have changed fundamentally on their home planet, as monkeys now control the earth and keep humans as slaves. Pete and Alan meet the chimpanzee Galen, who can talk and informs them of the current situation. The three are captured by Prefect Barlow, who believes the two astronauts are runaway slaves. Pete is then supposed to face a gladiator Tolar in the arena. He succeeds in defeating his opponent, whom, contrary to all the apes' expectations, he does not kill.
After an earthquake, Pete and the gorilla Urko are buried in an old subway shaft. The suspicious ape has to work together with humans. Since Galen is injured, Alan and Pete want to nurse him back to health. To do this, they seek shelter with a chimpanzee family that the astronauts can make friends with.
As they move on, they discover a computer in the remains of an old city. Alan and Pete hope to go back to their time, but they discover that the orangutan Zaius, leader of the monkeys, and the gorilla Urko, who heads the military, are constantly hunting people, so the astronauts are constantly on are on the run. They end up in a fishing village and are captured by the residents there and are supposed to help fish as slaves. Galen manages to free them, but Alan is shot while trying to escape. He was seriously injured and had to be taken to a hospital, where Galen was able to help him as his former girlfriend Dr. Kira works there as a surgeon. On their adventures, the astronauts even have to defend themselves against people who are willing to serve the monkeys, but they always manage to escape the orangutan Zaius and the gorilla Urko.

The series was discontinued in the US after just 14 episodes for lack of success and low audience ratings . Sat.1 broadcast all episodes in German premieres from March to June 1989, and again from August to November 1990. Another repeat of the series could be seen on ProSieben from June to September 1991. In the late 1990s, the series then appeared on DF1 and the later premiere and has already been broadcast several times. Anixe HD last broadcast the series in summer 2010.
In 1974, the film Emergency Landing on the Planet of the Ape (Back to the Planet of the Ape) was compiled from the episodes Back to the Future (Escape from Tomorrow) and Das Erdbeben (The Trap) .
