The Planurahütte is a mountain hut belonging to the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) in the canton of Glarus ( Switzerland ).

It is the highest alpine club hut in Eastern Switzerland and is located south of Linthal at 2947  m above sea level. M. in the Glarus Alps on the watershed of the Clariden, Hüfi and Sand glaciers.

The hut offers 60 beds (dormitories) and is hosted continuously from the beginning of July until the day of bed . The Planurahütte is particularly popular as a starting point for hikes, glacier, climbing and ski tours. At the hut there is the largest snow funnel in Europe, a so-called wind kolk .

architecture

From 1929 to 1930, the Tödi section of the SAC built the natural stone building, which was carved organically out of the rock, according to plans by Hans Leuzinger , who also determined the exact construction site and selected a location where the angled floor plan seems to clasp the rock and corresponds to the one next to it Rock spur occurs. A block rising suddenly without leveled building ground is bounded at the top by a simple monopitch roof that seems to trace the shape of the terrain, even to exaggerate it. The panoramic window of the lounge faces north and therefore faces the Clariden summit .

After the capacity of the original hut was not sufficient after a short time, its volume was doubled in 1965, although the design structure was largely retained. During the renovation, the plane crashed on Biferten in the summer of 1966 .
