Plumelin ( Breton : Pluverin ) is a French municipality with 2723 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .

location

Plumelin is located in the center of the Morbihan department and is part of the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring communities are Évellys with Remungol in the north, Moréac in the north-east, Locminé in the east, Moustoir-Ac in the south-east and south, La Chapelle-Neuve in the south-west and west and Guénin in the north-west.

The D117 as a connection from Locminé to Baud and the D179 from Grand-Champ to Pontivy run through Plumelin .

The river Tarun forms the southern boundary of the municipality. Other bodies of water in the municipality are the Le Fou stream and some ponds. Parts of the community area are covered by forest. The largest of these is the Bois de Guénanec .

history

Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro-Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Baod (French: Pays de Baud) area and shares its history. In 1867, part of the municipality split off and formed the municipality of La Chapelle-Neuve.
