Plutarch is an impact crater on the eastern edge of the front of the moon , so if at all, it is only visible from earth in a strongly distorted manner. It is located south of Seneca and southeast of Hahn . The crater wall is terraced and the interior has a central mountain .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek writer Plutarch .
