The podarium is

The term, initially as the French word podaires , was coined in 1858 by Charles Lemaire , who first used it when describing Euphorbia hermentiana . Pierre Edmond Boissier latinized Lemaire's term and used it in his description of the Diacanthium section of the euphorbias , published in January 1862 . In his review of Boissier published in April 1862, Lemaire finally defined the term podarium precisely.
