A pollen corona is a phenomenon of atmospheric optics and is a special form of a corona caused by the Mie scattering of light on plant pollen that is floating in the air - sinking and swirled by the wind . A wreath of light appears around the sun or moon , which can sometimes also be out of round, since out of round pollen on average can take preferred directions when falling.
