Pollenstorer

The great bumblebee ( Bombus magnus ) is counted among the pollen storers.

As Pollenstorer ( English for "Blütenstaubaufbewahrer" ) are those bumblebee species which contain not only the nectar and pollen stored in unneeded brood cells. Several brood cells are subsequently built close to such pollen barrels. This form of pollen storage is practiced in particular with short-nosed bumblebee species such as the great earth bumblebee ( Bombus magnus ) or the mountain bumblebee ( Bombus wurflenii ). Langrüsselige species, such as the common carder bee ( Bombus pascuorum ), set for the storage of pollen to brood about their own pockets, is why these types as Pocket Maker ( English "bag manufacturers" ), respectively.
