Polo Democrático Alternativo ( German  Democratic Alternative Axis , PDA for short) is a social-democratic political party in Colombia . It emerged from an association of the Polo Democrático Independiente (PDI) with the Alternativa Democrática movement . The PDA is a member of the Socialist International.

The party was founded in December 2005 as a counterpoint to the ruling right-wing parties, which launched a neoliberal economic program and pledged further militarization under the then President Álvaro Uribe . It is also the only opposition party in the House of Representatives . The party leader is Álvaro José Argote Muñoz .

In the parliamentary elections in Colombia in 2014 , the party won five senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and three seats in the House of Representatives of Colombia . In the parliamentary elections in Colombia in 2018 on March 11, 2018, the party won five senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and two seats in the House of Representatives of Colombia .

The PDA ran for the presidential elections in Colombia in 2018 with the candidate Sergio Fajardo . Fajardo received 23.73% of the vote which meant third place.
