Pontinha is a municipality in the Portuguese district of Odivelas in the Lisbon district . It covers an area of ​​4.6 km² and has 22,824 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

location

Pontinha is located on the northern outskirts of Lisbon . Neighboring communities are Famões and Odivelas (both in Odivelas County), Alfornelos , Brandoa and São Brás (in Amadora County) and Carnide (Lisbon).

history

The community was created in 1984 when it was separated from Odivelas and on August 16, 1991 it was elevated to a vila (small town) . In Pontinha is the Regimento de Engenharia n.º 1 , which was the command post of the Armed Forces Movement during the Carnation Revolution in April 1974. Since 1997 the place has been connected to the Lisbon Metro network via the Pontinha metro station . Between 1991 and 2001 the municipality lost about 22% of its inhabitants.
