Porte Saint-Denis
The Porte Saint-Denis is a monument in the shape of a triumphal arch in Paris. The building was built by François Blondel in 1672 in the style of the Arch of Titus in honor of the French King Louis XIV and represents one of the most important monuments of representative art of the time. The arch of the Porte Saint-Denis served as a model for the much more famous Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile , which was completed in 1836, as well as for the Manhattan Bridge, completed in New York in 1909 .
location
The Porte Saint-Denis is located at the intersection of Rue Saint-Denis , Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis , Boulevard de Bonne-Nouvelle and the Boulevard Saint-Denis .

The bas-relief on the south side by Michel Anguier shows the crossing of the Rhine. Additional allegorical representations of the Rhine and Holland are shown.
On the north facade is the depiction of the subjugation of the city of Maastricht by Louis XIV.
