The PowerCD is a portable CD player from Apple that was introduced in the summer of 1993. In the meantime, it is no longer officially available to buy, as it did not bring the hoped-for success. At this point in time, CD-ROM drives were already integrated as standard in Apple computers, making this device superfluous.

To play audio CDs, there is a connection via which the device is connected to a stereo system . In addition to audio CDs , the PowerCD drive can also play Kodak Photo CDs . The images from Photo CDs can be displayed on a television using an FBAS cable . The PowerCD can be connected to a computer via SCSI , thereby making data CDs accessible.

The PowerCD weighs 1.4 kilograms and can either be powered by a power supply unit or eight AA batteries, so that the device can also be used on the go. It is almost identical to the Philips CDF 100 and the Kodak PCD 880, but they differ in the different company logos and also do not have a SCSI interface.

The device has an orange backlit LCD and six buttons on the front (Stop, Pause, Play, Next, Prev, Mode). The power switch and CD ejector are located on the top.

The audio CD or photo CD function can be operated with an infrared remote control with 38 keys.
